A Writer Speaks Up - Some Thoughts About The Bent-Wood Trilogy
Recently I've been fielding several questions about the relationship between the hero and the heroine in several of my Bent-Wood Trilogy stories.
These questions generally center on our hero's seeming preoccupation, some would call it a fixation really, with his lover's gratification. My response was rather simple, and that has to do with the fact, however controversial this may be, with the fact that men, for the most part, are rather simple creatures. They are, again for the most part preoccupied with their own gratification or pleasure. Our hero on the other hand fixes his attention on the pleasure of his consort. Yes, I know, It has been brought up that our heroine is a somewhat rebellious, perhaps radical and a powerful woman in her own right. From time to time she manages to turn the tables on him, and gets what some might refer to as 'the upper hand'. But a few moments of reflection will indicate that this is quite in keeping with our hero's posture to begin with.
Google Checkout: Monetizing Made Easy ?
It was our intention to add Google's Revolutionary 'Drag N'Drop' Shopping Cart to our pilot web pages and field-test this unique service for our clients and friends. We finally reached Googles Online Sales & Operations Department and were referred to a few useful video tutorials. We'll keep you posted. And Yes, both those blankets below, fine examples of the Navajo Two-Grey-Hills Wearing Blankets or Shawls, remain for sale. For a limited period of time, I will deliver them personally.
Both are rendered in the Tec Nos Pos Coloration and worth well over the $ 8,000.00 US asking price ( Plus Shipping and Handling ) appraised by Marci Joe, sixth generation weaver and rug merchant. We'll also be putting up our local advertising, marketing, and sales pages as an example of how the internet is evolving at the grass-roots level. At the moment it is presented as a digital solution to the local demands for media. Think Newspapers, Magazines, Radio, Television, and Books only without the paper, ink, labor and infrastructure limitations of the industrial and post-industrial age ...
While I'm in the process of changing the layout of these pages for the umpteenth time, I thought I'd take a few minutes to share the perspective within which these changes are taking place- The context, Over the last twelve years or so we have remained all but completely focused on the most pressing issue that, for most of us, the Internet or that which we blithely call the Internet, consistently presents to us, The issue of monetization, More simply earning a decent living doing that thing which we most love to do. That thing about which we are consistently the most passionate. Let me give you a rather graphic and recent example.
On this latest leg of my journey, back to Carbondale IL from Mesquite NV,On to Virginia, Tennessee, and Toronto I was shocked to discover that I had lost or misplaced the power-cord to my digital camera, A 7.2 megapixel Casio Exilim. At some critical, or what seemed so at the time, my batteries went dead and I discovered that the camera in question would not recharge connected to the USB port of the laptop alone.
" What does a photographer do when the power goes down? "
I'll depart from the story-line just a bit in the interest of brevity, and cut to the chase, One writes, particularly, when one discovers, as did I, that one is truly a writer by nature, albeit a writer who depends heavily on audio and photography, still and motion, to enhance a basically static or so-called 'normal' web-page. This is what we have been calling up to this point a vLog ( Shorthand for an Audio & Video Enhanced Web-log ). When we started using this term, more years ago then I can count or recall, there were less than 1,200 such sites on the entire Internet, and my peers, quite frankly, thought I was going crazy. Perhaps so ...
Granted, I've had to defer placing my order for that power-cord, but not without pointing out two things.
First of all is the realization, after all these years, that I am a writer or more accurately perhaps, a story-teller and that, at best, almost everything we do is just that- The sharing of stories. Granted we now have a variety of tools that serve to enhance this practice. Secondarily, a renewed interest and the realization that goes along with it, that we remain focused on the process of earning a decent living online - communicating.
No few of my friends have recently pointed out that I persist in giving out many of my cards, bearing this URL, with regard to my background, my talents and abilities, my 'skill-set' in Advertising, Marketing, Graphics, in 'Risk Assessment and Management', not to mention my extremely rich experience as an Analyst, 'Administrative Assistant' to various CEO's, 'Deputy Chief' Investigator, Bodyguard and Driver' e.g. While at The Office of The Medical Examiner, in Florida's 19th Judicial District. < ggg > 'Void where prohibited by law.'See also 'Retired Homicide Investigator'
